SUBJECT: Music Monday 1.10.22

Jan 10, 2022
Message from the Reps

We are excited for this month's meeting, on Jan 19th, at 7pm. We have invited recent LaG grads back (via zoom) to talk about their college experience. These former Music Studio students are now attending both conservatory and non-conservatory colleges. Please mark your calendars, and urge your LaG student(s) to watch the meeting as well.

As the pandemic is still surging in the city, we will keep families up to date on any changes affecting music performances or activities at school. If you have music-related questions or concerns, you can always email the reps at musicstudioinfo@laguardiahspa.org

Don't Forget!

January 28: New Music Ensemble concert 7pm. As of this writing, the concert will be performed for an audience at LaG and also live-streamed, just like the December performances. Ticket information and the link to watch will be provided closer to the date.

December 2021 Concerts

There were so many wonderful performances in December, and as photos come in, we will try to highlight as many as we can this month. If you have photos from the December Musicales, please email them to the corresponding secretary Rebecca Rent (rebeccarent@gmail.com). Many thanks to the LaGuardia admin and families that supported the students so these concerts could take place.

NYC Opera

The New York City Opera was founded in the 1940's by then mayor Fiorello LaGuardia. These days, the director of the NYC Opera is Michael Capasso, a Music Studio parent. Michael has brought in NYCO musicians for master classes and helped find venues for outside performances for LaG students. The NYC Opera has teamed up with NYTF to present the world premier of a new American opera, The Garden of The Finzi-Continis.

Any student or family interested in checking out this opera can view details via the link below.
