Message from the Reps

This week at LaGuardia, we saw the Music teachers really utilizing all spaces in the school, especially for the large ensemble groups. The Senior Chorus, as well as Gospel Choir, have been using the Concert Hall when available, but recently each took over the lobby so the whole ensemble could practice together.

Our next studio meeting is Tuesday Oct 19 at 7pm (before the general PA meeting). AP Ben Schott will be in attendance. As a reminder, if you missed any of our meetings, the minutes are posted on the Music Studio page of the website.

Auditions for the LaGuardia's All-School Musical are this week! Students may audition for any role regardless of their Studio. All students who are fully vaccinated may participate. Those who would like to audition MUST sign up for a time slot. It is usually performed live for two full weekends in the Concert Hall (LaG's main stage). Historically, the musical has attracted full houses, often selling out in advance. This year's show, All Shook Up, is scheduled for February performances.

Families can expect a letter this week updating everyone on performance information. As we know, protocol is in a constantly changing, so patience and understanding is appreciated.

October Master Class

On Monday, Oct. 4th, NYC Opera soprano Rachel Zatcoff conducted the first Music Studio PA-sponsored master class of the school year via Zoom. Due to tight scheduling, the number of participants was small, but the feedback received was extremely good!

We are planning a second session of this class, to be held during the week of October 25th. If your student is interested, please forward the form below by midnight on Friday, Oct. 15th.

NOTE: Those who completed the form for the early-October class have priority over new registrants, but please ask your student to complete the form linked below anyway, as a few changes have been made--thank you.

In an effort to give LaGuardia Music Studio students in person performance opportunities, we have put together a showcase at Hill Country Barbecue on November 14th. Mark your calendars and keep an eye out for more info on attending this event!

In the know - SGO

The SGO Music Reps are running a
Design Contest for students to create artwork/logos for Studio Merchandise both for the Vocal and Instrumental divisions.

This Contest is open to ALL Students at LaGuardia. The final designs will be chosen by Vocal Majors for Vocal design and Instrumental Majors for the Instrumental design.
Please make sure to include either “LaGuardia Vocal” or “LaGuardia Instrumental” somewhere in the design without mentioning a specific class or graduating year. The designs will be used for either a tee shirt or sweatshirt which will then be a sold as part of the PA Music Studio Merchandise.

The deadline for all submissions is tomorrow October 12, 2021.
