PA Executive Board Spring Elections 2022-2023

Dear LaGuardia HS Families: 

Want to be part of a vibrant, creative and committed group of LaGuardia parents? Become a leader in our Parents Association Executive Board!

On Tuesday June 14, 6 PM via Zoom, we will elect members to the PA's Executive Board.  Please pre-register for the meeting here. We encourage everyone to consider running for a position, so please do by completing the nomination forms below: self-nomination or to nominate someone else.  If you have any questions, please email us at lagpaelections@gmail.com.

In addition to the PA's three mandatory positions (President orCo-Presidents, Treasurer and Recording Secretary) there's a full roster of roles just waiting for you to fill.

Positions and job descriptions are listed below as outlined in the new bylaws, approved at our General PA meeting on May 31. Please note that studios will hold their own elections for studio representatives.Class representatives will be elected in the fall.

Our school must have at least one mandatory position filled by June 30, 2022 in order to have a functioning PA for the 2022-2023 academic year.


NOMINATION PROCESS + CANDIDATE ELIGIBILITY
  • Nominations will be accepted via email up until Monday, June 13. Nominations will also be taken from the virtual floor on the night of elections - Tuesday, June 14, 6:00 PM. Click here for a self- nomination form and here to nominate someone else. 
  • All parents/guardians of a child currently attending LaGuardia High School are eligible to hold a PA office. However, per the Chancellor's Regulations, DOE employees are not allowed to run in the school they are employed, even if they have a child in the school.
  • Candidates will have the opportunity to make statements on the night of elections once the nomination period is closed. 
  • A candidate need not be present at the time of election to be eligible to run. If a candidate is not present, another member may read the candidate’s statement.
  • Mandarin-, Spanish- and Russian-speaking interpreters will available during the night of the election.
