Message from the Reps

Congratulations to our New Music Ensemble for an amazing show on Friday afternoon in the Little Flower Theater! Under the guidance of the indomitable Robert Apostle, students created original compositions, and we are so proud of their creativity and artistry.

Friday was a big day for the Music Studio, with the Reps hosting a pre-performance luncheon for our teachers and arranging both to display our merchandise during the concert and organize the usual Friday distribution of online store orders. Thankfully the weather behaved, and hopefully everyone made it home safely before the snow began.

The All School Musical (All Shook Up) is coming soon, and the pit band is comprised of Music Studio students under the baton of LaG jazz band director Kevin Blancq. Please make a point of attending or watching at least one of the 6 performances between Feb. 13th and 17th! Ticket and performance details will be coming from LaG this week.

Deadlines to apply for many summer music programs are looming, and the Alumni & Friends application deadline for financial aid for summer music study is Feb. 11th!

This world premiere tells the story of an aristocratic Italian-Jewish family, the Finzi-Continis, who during World War II believe they are immune to the changes happening around them.

SUMMER STUDY SCHOLARSHIPS FROM ALUMNI & FRIENDS OF LAGUARDIA

The Alumni & Friends of LaGuardia's Summer Study Scholarship application is open! Each year Alumni & Friends of LaGuardia distributes over $50,000 in scholarships to Juniors, Sophomores, and Freshmen with financial need who wish to pursue arts programs and private lessons during the summer. (Please note that Seniors do not qualify as they will have already graduated by summer 2022)

Ongoing Donations

Music Studio donations are FAR BELOW what we have received in prior years, so we need your help!!

We are still accepting donations for the 2021-2022 school year. (LaGuardia PA Music Studio is a 501(c)(3) organization). As noted at our last meeting, we are well behind last years donation numbers. If you are able, the Music Studio would greatly appreciate your donation.

If making a one time donation isn't feasible, you can set up a recurring monthly donation to the Music Studio (and the PA) through PayPal. To do so, click the Direct Donation link below or follow these instructions:

Log into your MTK account, click on Ways to Give under the Donate & Volunteer drop-down menu, then on the underlined red link Donate to a specific studio (2 places on the page allow you to do that). The PayPal page that appears is auto-filled to make a donation to the General PA, but you can designate the Music Studio by clicking on the drop-down menu. Below that box is the option to make your donation a monthly-recurring one. Or, by leaving that box unchecked, the donation will be a one-time donation.

You can select any amount you like to donate; all contributions gratefully received!
