College Resources

Naviance

Naviance is the online system we use to provide students with college planning and career assessment tools.

Juniors use Naviance to begin the college application process. An important element is the “All About Me” section on Naviance, which Guidance uses to become more familiar with each student. If your student has not yet completed the “All About Me” section, please encourage them to log in to Naviance and answer the questions.

LaGuardia Administration has advised of a new Naviance Security Feature – If a student/parent has a valid email address in Naviance, they will be able to reset their own password. Students/ parents will receive an email with their temporary password to use to log in, and then will be required to reset their password to the new requirements.

Finding Your College!

Lists & Surveys

It’s important to find the right mix of colleges to which to apply – these lists may help – but as with everything, we recommend using multiple sources to build your student’s list.

Georgetown University – Center on Education & the Workforce
Using data from the expanded College Scorecard, this report ranks 4,500 colleges and universities by return on investment. A First Try at ROI: Ranking 4,500 Colleges finds that bachelor’s degrees from private colleges, on average, have higher ROI than degrees from public colleges 40 years after enrollment. Community colleges and many certificate programs have the highest returns in the short term, 10 years after enrollment, though returns from bachelor’s degrees eventually overtake those of most two-year credentials. Read more!
